[su_dropcap style=”flat”]A[/su_dropcap] bizarre incident in Winston County, Alabama has led to the dismissal of two deputies and a Sheriff caught on video stealing confiscated marijuana.
Between May and August 2015, according to court records, Winston County Sheriff Hobby Walker ordered deputies Zak Green and Steven Moody to “peel off” confiscated marijuana from drug raids so that he could give it to his aunt, who was sick and dying from cancer. “I need a little bag of dope ok?” Sheriff Walker told Green one afternoon. “I’ve been trying to get one ever since I’ve been in office and this has been going on eight months. The woman’s gonna die before I you know?”
[adinserter block=”1″]Deputies Green and Moody resisted for several months, even calling out the Sheriff once when he tried to slip some confiscated marijuana into his desk drawer. On September 23, after meeting with the Attorney General and state law enforcement officials the deputies videotaped a meeting between themselves and the Sheriff, wherein they handed marijuana over to him that they had confiscated from an outdoor grow.
On November 30, 2015 Sheriff Walker fired Deputies Green and Moody, who have since filed a lawsuit against the Sheriff and the County for wrongful termination. So far no arrests have been made in the case.
We’ve got some on that eradication. All you gotta do is peel a little off. -Winston County Alabama Sheriff Hobby Walker
Alabama won’t legalize even though every indication that this man needed it for medicinal reasons. Backward ass Republican states don’t see the need to provide all the healthcare available for their citizens at any level.
Its never going to be legalized down here, people that need weed prob shouldn’t come to Alabama we are last at everything, and the local government is money hungry, look Birmingham wants to study marinol, cannabinoids, but doesn’t want to make it legal? its been years, I’m getting too old to care about the law anyway I will be dead by the time anything becomes legal…..Also the doctors around here are so strange they wouldn’t prescribe it just because it is the south, its laughable how backwards it is down here, or if you wanna call it criminal, that’s a more descriptive term. Someone help us…..
Those deputies are pathetic, is that was their sick family member I bet they wouldn’t be acting like such tattle tale bitches..
Don’t lose hope. Alabama is not a lost cause…just talk to your friends and neighbors and you’ll see that no one understands why our laws are so harsh when it comes to cannabis. The problem is that the people have not had a voice. We need to fight for our voice and stop letting our elected leaders run all over us.
if more of us alabamians get on the same page we will have a voice they cant ignore
